CHAPTER 18

When the family made it back to Miami, Conic asked Q and Harlem if they would rather be closer to all of them because they stayed damn near on the other side of town and Conic and Love had plenty of room. Conic’s contractor Jerry had inherited the land Conic’s home was built on, and since he and Conic had since went into business together, he sold all the land to Conic in order to confirm his partnership in the business.

Only two of the four other houses that were on the property a few miles down from Conic’s home were being used. The contractor only had enough money to build the four houses and he was hoping the money he made from them would help him build more on the huge area of land. That’s when Conic contacted him about having his home built there and with the money Conic offered, the man he couldn’t refuse the offer.

“Lem, you good with that? It would be a lot easier if we had to jump ship quickly,” Q asked her and she agreed. Besides, it would be like one big ass sleepover anyways.

“Girl, you know we have the room and if ya’ll need some privacy, ya’ll can stay in one of the other guesthouses,” Love told Harlem, hoping it would help sway her decision. Since the whole crew was coming to their house, it made sense for them to be there as well. Besides, Love was ready to finally introduce Harlem to her other sister.

“Sis, you don’t have to convince me. Hell, I have been to that massive ass house ya’ll have, and I haven’t had the full grand tour, so I guess I’ll be receiving a proper one this time. Right, Love?” Harlem said as she and her big sister shared a laugh.

As they pulled up, Q complimented Conic on his home. He knew about Conic designing it himself, which ultimately led his father to hook Conic up on his new business. Once Q and Conic linked up, he offered Q a portion of the successful business since his father was the one that gave him the hook up.

“Q, how you feel about the neighborhood ya’ll live in? You know, my business partner used to own this land. I bought it from him not long before we had to get back to Saginaw, but if ya’ll ever think about moving to be closer, the choice is yours, bruh. Just pick a home, as long as it ain’t mines,” Conic told him as they all got out the truck. Q dapped Conic up and told him he would think about it as he looked around the land.

“Now if you want to take the hard way out and build yo shit from the ground up, yo ass gon’ be hands on, and you may want to hurry up and figure out what you want to do because I’m sure one of these funny lookin’ niggas gon’ be up next to move out here,” Conic told Q as the rest of the family walked up to where they were standing.
